Position:
Forest School and Outings Lead
About Me:
I am the Forest School and Outings Lead at Monkey Puzzle Hither Green, with over 30 years of experience in early childhood education. My journey began in Scouting, where I served as a Venture Scout, Beaver Leader, Scout Leader, and Group Scout Leader. This foundation has deeply influenced my commitment to nurturing children's development and encouraging their exploration of nature.
After earning my NNEB Degree, I started my career in a primary school setting, eventually moving into nursery education. Throughout my extensive tenure in nursery and reception classes, I played a pivotal role in preparing children for school and successfully developing Forest School sites.
In pursuit of professional growth, I took on the role of Deputy Manager at a newly established nursery in Eltham. During my time there, I worked with children of all age groups and contributed to the nursery's development, achieving an outstanding rating from Ofsted. I also completed my SENCO training and earned a management degree.
After three successful years in Eltham, I moved to the Bexley branch as Deputy Manager and Preschool Room Leader, where I continued to run Forest School sessions in local woodlands. I quickly advanced to the position of Manager, overseeing the 65-placement nursery and serving as the SENCO, during which I achieved another exemplary Ofsted report.
Now, at Monkey Puzzle Hither Green, I have revitalized the Forest School area, ensuring that every child experiences at least one Forest School session per week, while all classrooms engage in daily outdoor learning activities. My enthusiasm for nature and wildlife has inspired both children and staff alike, fostering a community that cherishes exploration and discovery.
I remain passionate about bringing Forest School to life for all children and am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to create lasting memories and learning experiences that celebrate the awe and wonder of the natural world.
